Some of the best ideas don’t begin with a business plan. They begin with a conversation.
For us, Beyond the Boards Travel started with a simple observation. Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to build genuine friendships and personal relationships with people throughout the hockey world. We’ve shared dinners, conversations, stories, laughs, and moments with players and personalities that most fans rarely get the opportunity to experience.
And we kept coming back to the same thought:
What if we could share that feeling with other people?
Beyond the Autograph
Being a sports fan is about more than watching a game.
It’s the memories of going to games with your family. The players you grew up watching. The stories you still tell about an incredible goal, a playoff run, or a championship season.
But when fans have the opportunity to meet the people behind those memories, it’s often brief. A handshake. An autograph. A photograph.
We wanted to create something different.
What if instead of simply meeting a player, you could share an experience with them?
Imagine sitting together over dinner and hearing the story behind a moment you watched on television years ago.
Imagine playing a round of golf together, joining an excursion in an incredible destination, or gathering for a relaxed “hot stove” evening where the stories go well beyond what ever made it into the newspapers.
Those are the moments we want Beyond the Boards to create.
The Celebrity Isn't Just Making an Appearance
This idea became one of the principles behind everything we are building:
The celebrity isn't just making an appearance. They're sharing the experience.
That's the difference.
Beyond the Boards Travel isn't about putting a famous name on an itinerary. It's about creating an environment where genuine interaction can happen naturally.
That could mean a welcome cocktail party with a hockey legend, an afternoon excursion together, a private Q&A, a storytelling night, a farewell dinner, or simply finding yourself sitting beside someone you've admired for years and having a conversation.
Not every memorable moment needs to be scheduled.
Sometimes the best ones happen in between.
Why Travel?
Because travel has a wonderful way of bringing people together.
When you take people away from the arena, the autograph table, and the traditional fan experience, something changes.
Everyone relaxes.
Conversations become longer. Stories become better. People get to know one another.
Whether we're at an all-inclusive resort, aboard a cruise ship, playing golf, or exploring a new destination, travel creates the time and space for connections that simply aren't possible during a traditional celebrity appearance.
And we believe the destination should be every bit as memorable as the access.
That's why professionally planned travel is at the heart of Beyond the Boards. Great hotels, incredible destinations, thoughtful experiences, and exceptional service aren't secondary to the celebrity component.
They're part of the experience.
It's Personal to Us
Beyond the Boards is built on relationships.
The relationships we have developed with players and personalities over the years aren't names on a contact list. They're people we know, respect, and enjoy spending time with.
We want our guests to experience some of that same warmth and authenticity.
We also want the players and celebrities who travel with us to enjoy themselves. When everyone genuinely wants to be there, guests can feel the difference.
That's when something that started as a vacation becomes a story you'll tell for the rest of your life.
Going Beyond the Boards
We started Beyond the Boards Travel because we believe fans deserve the opportunity to experience the people behind the game in an entirely different way.
To hear the stories.
To share the laughs.
To explore somewhere new.
To make connections.
And ultimately, to come home with something much more valuable than an autograph or photograph.
A memory you were actually part of.
That's why we started Beyond the Boards Travel.
And we're just getting started.
